Location: Chelmsford, Hybrid (1 day a week in the office)

We’re looking for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to lead and shape how Essex Highways communicates with its people.

This is a high‑impact role where you’ll own our internal communications strategy, help bring our organisational narrative to life, and ensure colleagues feel informed, inspired and connected to the work we deliver for Essex residents.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading the internal communications strategy in line with Everyone’s Essex
• Creating clear, engaging communications across multiple channels
• Supporting and advising senior leaders and managers
• Developing engaging content including a regular staff newsletter
• Using Viva Engage to celebrate achievements and drive engagement
• Acting as brand ambassador for Essex Highways
• Working closely with HR and key stakeholders across the organisation

What we’re looking for:

• Strong experience in internal communications, including senior‑level influencing
• Confidence managing a multi‑channel communications environment
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
• A generalist understanding of digital and non‑digital communications
• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own car
