Salary: £33.30 Hourly

Contract: Ongoing | Full Time / Part Time Available

Overview

Social Worker required for an ongoing opportunity within the Fostering Supervising Team in Stoke on Trent. Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of foster carers, providing regular supervision visits in line with statutory requirements
  • Support carers with placement planning, child development, behaviour management, and safeguarding
  • Identify training needs and facilitate access to learning and development opportunities
  • Contribute to assessments of prospective foster carers, completing reports in line with Fostering Regulations
  • Support the fostering panel and provide professional recommendations regarding approvals
  • Ensure foster placements meet the needs of looked-after children
  • Monitor the welfare and progress of children placed with carers
  • Participate in reviews, meetings, and planning forums regarding children’s care
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns for children in care
  • Support carers in understanding and implementing safeguarding policies
  • Complete risk assessments and contribute to safeguarding plans
  • Liaise with children’s social workers, education, health, and therapeutic services
  • Attend fostering panel meetings, looked-after children reviews, and training events
  • Work collaboratively with birth families to support care plans where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and analytical case records for foster carers and placements
  • Ensure all work complies with statutory frameworks and local policies
  • Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and continuous professional development

Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW)
  • Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
  • Experience working in Children’s Social Care, particularly with foster carers, looked-after children, or permanence teams
  • Experience in supervision, assessment, and supporting foster placements is desirable
