Client Details: I am working with a fast‑growing construction organisation delivering high‑quality projects across multiple active sites. The business is known for operational excellence, modern construction methods, and a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. They invest heavily in their people—providing a supportive, forward‑thinking environment where teams are encouraged to live, learn, and dream as they develop their careers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly site safety inspections (and ad hoc as required) across live residential projects.
  • Audit against company H&S policy, CDM 2015, and industry best practice; produce clear, actionable reports.
  • Track and drive close-out of corrective actions with Site Managers and Project Teams.
  • Investigate incidents/near misses (incl. potential RIDDOR), produce root‑cause analysis, and implement lessons learned.
  • Provide HSE advice, coaching, mentoring, and toolbox talks to raise standards and behaviours.
  • Review Construction Phase Plans (CPP) when acting as Client; assure Principal Contractor compliance.
  • Liaise professionally with regulators (HSE, EA, local authorities) as required.
  • Promote behavioural safety, wellbeing, and ill‑health prevention measures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes and industry best practice; support departmental projects.
  • Champion a positive safety ethos and ensure training needs are identified and met.

Profile

  • Proven Health & Safety experience in construction (ideally residential housebuilding or Principal Contractor environments).
  • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, CDM 2015, and RIDDOR.
  • Confident conducting site audits/inspections, delivering toolbox talks, and influencing stakeholders.
  • Skilled in risk assessments (RA) and method statements (RAMS); clear, concise report writing.
  • Adept at incident response & investigation, with practical, preventative recommendations.
  • Relationship‑builder: credible with Site/Project Managers, subcontractors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Organised, detail‑driven, able to manage multiple sites/priorities.
  • IT literate (MS Office; safety management systems).
  • Full UK driving licence; comfortable with regional travel.

Job Offer

  • Competitive base salary + car/allowance + comprehensive benefits.
  • 25+ days holiday + bank holidays (policy dependent) and enhanced pension.
  • CPD support (professional memberships, further qualifications, and structured development).
  • Real ownership and visibility—work directly with the Group Head of H&S on business‑wide initiatives.
  • Inclusive, values‑led culture where you can live, learn, dream and make a measurable impact.
