The Role

Moonbug is seeking a Management Accountant to support the growing Finance team. This role is based in our London office in the heart of Camden Town and will work with some of the biggest family entertainment brands. The position requires overseeing the Consumer Products and Experiences revenue stream for major media brands, each with distinct business models and commercial contracts. A background in licensing and merchandising revenue, including royalty accruals, advances, guarantees and WHT, is highly regarded. A flexible, can‑do mindset and the ability to improve processes in a fast‑paced environment are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Business partnering with commercial finance and legal teams to accurately recognise revenue on a monthly basis.
  • Creating accurate invoice requests and collaborating with other functions to resolve billing discrepancies/customer inquiries while streamlining the billing process.
  • Driving revenue accounting month‑end close processes by creating and validating accruals, preparing and posting journal entries while ensuring policy compliance and meeting agreed timelines.
  • Gaining a solid understanding of business transactions and accounting flow, recommending continuous improvement initiatives related to revenue processes, and championing new processes that support departmental and organisational objectives.
  • Preparing balance‑sheet reconciliations for accrued revenue, deferred revenue and accrued expenses.
  • Providing dotted‑line management of a junior staff member.
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting across revenue streams as required.
  • Participating in the annual audit process for the Group.
  • Handling other ad‑hoc tasks as and when they arise.

Requirements

  • Experience working within a fast‑growth business environment and ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic setting.
  • Solid understanding and experience with deferred and accrued revenue and cost accounting.
  • Experience collaborating with professionals at all levels, from junior team members to senior management.
  • Team player who understands the bigger picture and how Finance’s inputs and outputs affect the business.
  • Proactive, hands‑on achiever with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with US GAAP and UK GAAP is a bonus.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a bonus.
  • Salesforce experience is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Part‑qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent – required.
  • Experience in statutory audit process – required.
  • Experience in media industry – preferred.
