Description

Priory Hospital Middleton St George is looking to recruit Specialty Doctors to join our team. This is a full‑time, 37.5‑hour permanent role. Located in the picturesque village of Middleton St George, Darlington, County Durham, the hospital sits within a spacious and relaxing setting, within easy reach of Durham Tees Valley International Airport, Dinsdale train station, and the main Northeast train line station in Darlington. We provide a specialist inpatient psychiatric service for adults with mental health issues, complex needs and behaviours that challenge, offering acute, PICU, rehabilitation, specialist personality disorder and secure care services. Our mission is to support people to transfer effortlessly between the most appropriate care, meeting individual needs, enabling recovery and re‑engagement within the community, and maximising life opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive clinical care and expert consultation within the specialty area, managing complex and acute cases.
  • Lead diagnostic evaluations, including ordering and interpreting advanced tests and imaging, to inform evidence‑based treatment plans.
  • Contribute to first‑medical on‑call rota (1:6).
  • Perform specialised procedures and interventions in accordance with best practices and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—nurses, allied health professionals, and other specialists—to coordinate holistic patient management.
  • Engage actively in teaching and training medical students, resident medical officers, advanced nurse practitioners and the wider MDT, fostering a learning environment and supporting professional development.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects to advance specialty knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
