People Project Manager
12 month fixed‑term contract – Leeds/Hybrid
We have an exciting opportunity to join our People Culture and Change Team as a People Project Manager. This is a key role that works in partnership with the People Leadership Team to deliver the People Strategy through People Project Plans. Flex@QBE means we only ask people to come into the office for the moments that matter. Our preference is to have someone based within commutable distance of Leeds for this role but we may be open to conversations with candidates based in London.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage People‑related projects (e.g. Org Design Transformations, benefits reviews, payroll changes) as per agreed prioritisation with the Head of People Portfolio to deliver within agreed timeframes, scope and budget with effective stakeholder engagement throughout.
- Develop and gain agreement to project scoping, plans and budgets, ensuring interdependencies with other programmes and projects are monitored throughout the lifecycle.
- Contribute to the review and refinement of processes, procedures, tools and systems to continuously improve efficiency of projects and related activities.
- Review and maintain a repository of programme and project data, including plans, milestones, status reports, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, outcomes and financial data.
- Oversee People‑project related budgets and costs in collaboration with the Head of People Portfolio to effectively manage the People cost base.
- Collaborate and build relationships with the wider People team (locally and globally) and project stakeholders across QBE and external where applicable to fully understand, agree project goals, benefits, measures, drivers and resources.
- Facilitate a robust governance process across the programme of People projects through effective risk, issue and exception reporting.
- Actively coach and develop junior or less‑experienced team members, acting as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure sharing of knowledge and best practice.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experienced Project/Programme Manager with background in Org Design, Transformations or HR preferred.
- Good understanding of project management methodology, best‑practice tools, templates and techniques (supported by theory‑based learning or study).
- Experience supporting business or people‑led change.
- PMO experience, including managing key project controls such as risks, issues, dependencies, plans, finances and reporting.
- Ability to build strong stakeholder and team relationships in a line and matrix environment and challenge constructively while maintaining positive relationships.
- Proven experience working in a line and matrix environment.
- Proficiency with MS Project, JIRA, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- HR background desirable – knowledge and understanding of HR best practice, strategies and initiatives.
- Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement; QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.
