Compliance officer

I am currently working with an International Commodity trading firm that is looking for an experienced corporate compliance professional to join their Global Corporate Compliance team in London.

In this role, you will work closely with the business around different transactions, evaluating key regulatory risks in relation to infrastructure projects, JV’s and M&A activities. As well as ensuring that the firm’s corporate Compliance program policies and procedures are adhered to and stay up to date in relation to changing Global regulatory environments.

You will need to have good experience in relation to code of conduct, Anti-bribery and Corruption, speak up, sanctions, data privacy and of in-depth investigations

The firm has a very collaborative and collegiate culture, and they also have a very flat structure. They expect everyone in this team to be proactive, willing to make decisions and provide advice to all areas of the business. Most of the team is in 5 days a week.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the corporate compliance framework
  • Provide day-to-day support and advice to businesses on compliance issues
  • Implementation of systems and controls in relation to regulatory, corporate and legal risks
  • Analyse compliance risks for new projects (e.g. M&A transactions) and advise business teams on any remediation actions
  • Assist in sanctions and regulations monitoring and coordinating with the relevant internal teams (e.g. Legal / Finance) to properly manage transactions with sanctions exposure
  • Develop and deliver compliance-related training to the relevant regional teams and offices
  • Contribute to refining existing or introducing new compliance initiatives. E.g. developing engaging content for the regional Compliance champions programme
  • Undertaking additional activities as directed by Compliance Management
  • Provide guidance on anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, data privacy, and other key compliance areas

Experience and skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Compliance professional.
  • Experience in Commodities trading would be advantageous.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, as well as strong investigatory and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of sanctions and ABC laws on business operations
