Job summary
Knutsford Medical Partnership is recruiting a salaried GP on maternity cover for a 12‑month term, with five sessions per week (Tuesday AM, Wednesday, Thursday and an extended 12‑8 pm shift on a rota basis). Subject to funding, the position may become permanent after the cover period.
Key responsibilities
The post-holder will provide comprehensive primary care services, including acute triage, routine surgeries, home visits, telephone consultations, prescribing, reviewing repeat prescriptions, and managing patient test results. The role also involves delivering extended hours as agreed, contributing to quality‑of‑care targets, and supporting practice governance activities such as QOF and audit reporting.
In addition to clinical duties, the GP will:
- Teach and train junior doctors and nurses;
- Maintain robust clinical records and complete required paperwork;
- Participate in and support the development of clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives;
- Adhere to health‑and‑safety policies, confidentiality requirements and equality and diversity standards;
- Pursue continuous professional development through training, appraisal and study leave;
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers and multidisciplinary team members.

Qualifications
- On GMC GP Register and Medical Performers List
- Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
- Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
- UK driving licence
- UK work permit (if required)
- Evidence of continued professional development
- MRCGP and experience in sexual health services (e.g., contraception, implants, IUDs)
Experience and skills
- Chronic disease management, primary prevention & screening services, clinical governance, and delivery of QOF targets
- Self‑audit, reflection, and record‑keeping efficiency
- Time management and prioritisation under pressure
- Proficiency with EMIS Web, Docman10, AccuRX
- Adaptability to change, service development, and willingness to collaborate across the primary health team
- Ability to maintain effective multidisciplinary relationships, work flexibly, and recognise personal limitations
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and compliance with NHS regulatory requirements
