We are seeking a highly capable Applied AI / Automation Engineer to join our Data Science team, on a 12-month fixed‑term contract. This role will focus on designing and building an intelligent reporting platform to support our Fund Administration team.
The role reports directly to the Head of Data Science and will partner closely with a designated Product Manager within the Fund Administration team, to deliver measurable efficiency gains and scalable operational improvements.
Day‑to‑day priorities will be operationally aligned in partnership with the Administration team, while maintaining technical ownership within Data Science.
The objective is to incrementally transform reporting production and reconciliation workflows, using contemporary data engineering, AI, and agent‑based technologies.
This is a hands‑on, high‑impact engineering role focused on building robust, production‑grade systems in a complex real‑world financial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and delivery of an end‑to‑end automated reporting platform.
- Design and implement intelligent workflows to automate data ingestion, validation, reconciliation, and NAV calculation — replacing manual operational processes with scalable, observable, and controlled systems.
- Design exception‑handling and human‑in‑the‑loop mechanisms where full automation is not appropriate.
- Ensure accuracy, auditability, and operational resilience of the NAV platform.
- Partner with the Fund Administration Product Manager to translate operational complexity into structured technical solutions.
- Evolve the system into a maintainable internal product rather than a collection of scripts.
- Within 12 months, you will have delivered a robust, production‑grade NAV automation platform that materially reduces manual reconciliation effort, improves operational transparency, and establishes a scalable foundation for future AI‑driven enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong automation engineering capability and ability to apply AI in real operational environments.
- Strong hands‑on experience in Python and SQL.
- Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and automation systems.
- Experience integrating multiple systems via APIs and structured data feeds.
- Experience building reliable, monitored, and maintainable production systems.
- Experience using version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience implementing testing strategies to ensure system accuracy and reliability.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to architect end‑to‑end solutions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with operations teams.
- Exposure to reconciliation, accounting, or control‑focused workflows.
- Experience building systems in regulated or audit‑sensitive contexts.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools.
- Experience productising internal automation into scalable applications, including operational dashboards or internal tools (e.g., TypeScript, React, Next.js or similar).
This is an interesting opportunity to design and build an AI‑driven operational system from the ground up.
With the application of AI agents and automation, the role has the potential to shape how modern AI augments and automates fund operations.
Please note that all candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
