About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Warehouse Manager to lead our warehouse operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, while ensuring high levels of accuracy, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, maintaining health and safety standards, and developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
- Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and to customer expectations
- Optimise warehouse layout, workflows, and stock locations for maximum efficiency
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts and stocktakes
- Monitor and manage warehouse KPIs (productivity, accuracy, on-time dispatch)
- Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse staff, including supervisors and operatives
- Conduct training, coaching, and performance reviews
- Plan and allocate resources to meet operational demands
- Foster a positive, accountable, and continuous improvement culture
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and HSE guidelines
- Conduct risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment
- Oversee maintenance and safe use of equipment (e.g., forklifts)
- Ensure adherence to company policies, security, and quality standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Apply Lean, 5S, or similar methodologies
- Support optimisation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Collaborate with senior management to align operations with business goals
- Liaise with transport providers for timely deliveries and collections
- Resolve operational issues and discrepancies promptly
- Work closely with procurement, customer service, and production teams
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing teams
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control
- Proficiency in WMS and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations
- Forklift licence (FLT) desirable but not essential
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
