Overview
A Chief Engineer will manage the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations, ensuring safety, security, and compliance at the highest levels. This role includes overseeing mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance, as well as strategic planning for capital and repair budgets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Engineering Team in day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations, including service standards, equipment and work schedules.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance activities for guest rooms and public areas.
- Develop systems and procedures for health, safety, and proper conditions for plant, machinery, and property.
- Ensure compliance with governmental statutory regulations.
- Prepare capital, repair, and maintenance budgets for Engineering.
- Perform daily inspections throughout the hotel.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair mechanical equipment.
- Build good relationships with internal and external customers.
- Maintain all hotel fixtures and fittings in safe condition; address unsafe situations promptly.
- Develop and implement emergency programs.
- Manage energy conservation programs to minimize expenses.
- Coordinate renovation bidding, define cost and scope, and oversee contractors.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Introduce environmentally-friendly systems and equipment.
- Monitor KPI for Engineering Department and take corrective action to improve equipment inventory, quality audit, productivity, and other objectives.
- Manage team member activities, including recruitment, performance management, training, career planning, disciplinary matters, and motivation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical technical knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated engineering compliance knowledge and experience.
- Strong leadership skills and past experience in leading a team.
- Experience in budget control and Capex P&L for a department.
