Service Manager
Emergency Department, Medicine Division at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH). Band: 7. Hours: 37.5 per week. All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day operational management and ensure delegated services meet performance and financial objectives.
- Lead service improvement and cost‑saving projects in partnership with the Division, as directed by Operational Managers.
- Deputise for senior management when required.
- Monitor and manage performance data (RTT reports, waiting lists, discharge summaries, out‑patient ratios, diagnostic treatment status, length of stay, Stroke/TIA, SDEC and ED dashboards, ECDS, ED breach analysis, ED board‑round proforma) to achieve national and local targets.
- Ensure Trust access standards are consistently met for all patients across the Division.
- Communicate clearly with staff, chair meetings, and produce effective communication channels within and across specialities.
- Manage administration and support staff including division rota coordinators, recruitment and retention.
- Plan, organise and arrange activities linking with the overall directorate strategy.
- Support financial management: review and monitor delegated budgets, investigate variances, support clinical directors and matrons in managing establishments, and maintain proper documentation for changes in establishment, replacement of positions and cover.
