The Role
As a key member of the Design Department, your primary focus will be the technical realisation of new ideas. You will spend the majority of your time at the leading edge of our product development cycle, ensuring that every model and drawing is precise, innovative, and ready for production.
Key Design Responsibilities
- Core Design: Using SolidWorks to develop complex 3D models and high-precision manufacturing drawings.
- Research & Development: Support the R&D phase for new product opportunities, supporting the design journey from concept to final specification.
- Process Optimisation: Applying your understanding of engineering maths to ensure designs are optimised for fabrication, CNC machining, and laser cutting.
Techniical Skills & Expertise
We are looking for a design-focused individual who understands the “why” behind the “how.” You should have a deep aptitude for technical problem-solving and a drive to create elegant engineering solutions.
Required Skills
- Expertise in SolidWorks: Proficiency in creating robust models and detailed production drawings.
- Design for Manufacture (DfM): A strong theoretical and practical understanding of designing for:
- Press brakes & Fabrication
- CNC Machining & Rapid Prototyping
- Engineering Theory: Strong engineering maths and a logical approach to mechanical challenges.
- Internal Standards: While you’ll bring your expertise, we will provide full training on our specific internal drawing systems.
The Techneat Environment
While this is a design-centric role, you will occasionally collaborate with the manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure your designs are being executed perfectly. This ensures a closed-loop feedback system that makes you a better, more informed designer.
