The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial team, supporting the delivery of high‑quality commercial analysis, forecasting, and insight to inform decision‑making and drive growth.

Reporting to the Commercial Analysis Manager, you will play a key role in providing trading insight, forecasting support, and performance reporting, while working closely with colleagues across Revenue Management, Marketing, and the wider Arriva Group.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded analyst who enjoys working with complex data sets and translating insight into tangible business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver commercial analysis, insight, and trading reports to provide full visibility of Grand Central’s performance and industry trends
  • Identify and interpret emerging customer, revenue, and demand trends, making recommendations to optimise Revenue Management and Marketing activity
  • Support the delivery of revenue and demand forecasting processes, maintaining and developing key performance indicators
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Grand Central’s revenue forecasting model, supporting its ongoing optimisation and development
  • Contribute to the improvement and automation of commercial reporting using Arriva’s Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, working with the wider BI community
  • Support revenue protection activities, including income allocation disputes and sustained planned disruption claims
  • Provide revenue modelling and analysis to support business development initiatives, such as timetable changes, additional services, new routes, and contingency planning
  • Work collaboratively across Grand Central and Arriva UK Trains to support wider commercial objectives

About You

You will be a confident and analytically strong individual who enjoys solving complex problems and working in a fast‑paced commercial environment.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Degree‑educated (or equivalent experience), with strong numerical and analytical capability
  • Proven experience working with data and BI platforms to create clear, actionable insight
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present analysis to senior stakeholders
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to apply insight to drive real business outcomes
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams and managing competing priorities
  • Curious, proactive, and confident in challenging assumptions and proposing new approaches

Desirable:

  • Experience working with rail industry systems such as LENNON or MOIRA
  • Knowledge of Passenger Demand Forecasting Handbook (PDFH) principles
  • Previous experience within an open‑access or rail operating environment
