Role: Senior Manager, Infrastructure & IT Operations

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the global network infrastructure, including all infrastructure, the network team, and supporting global networking infrastructure.

The Senior Manager, Infrastructure & Operations will also be responsible for the security and availability of all business‑critical applications (e.g. Rancher environment, Kubernetes, ICANN, SFTP, View) as well as IT support applications (e.g. ITSM, MDM, Monitoring, CMDB).

Key Accountabilities

  • Leadership and management of the technical teams that support the technology and understand the wider implications on IT and the wider business.
  • Creating a creative and engaging working environment where all team members are appreciated for their contributions.
  • Working collaboratively with IT SLT, business partners, project delivery/PM, and all colleagues in Escode.
  • Providing and structuring the correct level of support for the technology in scope (e.g. 24×7, on‑call etc).
  • Delivering projects and programmes to improve the technology of the business.
  • Developing backlogs, roadmaps, and strategies for the technology within Infrastructure.
  • Ensuring that roadmaps and strategies are in place for all key technology areas to support business growth and other key objectives.
  • Owning the IT risk register for infrastructure risks, including the tracking of progress against risk items.
  • Owning the change management process for infrastructure and ensuring that the Change Advisory Board process and approvals are followed.
  • Keeping the IT disaster recovery plan up to date and testing it annually.
  • Ensuring that digital and technology operations are effective through proactive monitoring and reporting, including management reporting to identify and resolve gaps.
  • Performing reactive root‑cause analysis and proactive trending to reduce further incidents within the scope of the team.
  • Ensuring data accuracy for the technology in core systems of record (e.g. Register of Technology and Services, ITSM tool, CMDB).
  • Responsible for attaining all relevant organisational accreditations globally, e.g., Cyber Essentials+, ISO27001, etc.
  • Acting as an escalation point for any service issues within the scope of the team.
  • Staying abreast of industry and technology trends as well as emerging tools and techniques relevant to the role.
  • Hands‑on experience of working in a technical environment.
  • The ability to develop and deliver a technology roadmap strategy that aligns with a business strategy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels of an organisation.
  • Understanding core IT policies, standards and processes and their importance in delivering a good service to the business.
  • Stakeholder management across the organisation and within a global function.
  • Management and leadership experience of technical teams.
  • Excellent relationship management: identifying important stakeholders and relationships and working with teams to build these relationships.
  • User focus: awareness or understanding of user experience and its principles, seeing the purpose of user stories and focusing on user needs.

Technology Expertise

You will have strong experience/knowledge with:

  • Cloud Native Services within Azure/AWS
  • Implementing Cloud Infrastructure within Azure/AWS
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Windows Server 2016 and onwards
  • Virtualization (VMWare, KVM, etc.)

Experience/knowledge with one or more of the following technologies would be desirable but not essential:

  • Windows Server technologies such as Entra, Active Directory & Group Policy.
  • Firewall experience.
  • Ansible Automation Platform / Ansible Tower / AWX.
  • Rancher.
  • Version control (Git).
  • Security awareness.
  • Network experience.
  • Datacenter server (HPE/Dell Servers/Blades) build and configuration.
  • SSL Certificates.

Other Information

– You must be willing to travel to Escode office locations globally and stay away from home on occasion.

– This role involves mandatory pre‑employment background checks due to the nature of the work. The role is subject to BS7858 screening as a mandatory requirement.
