The Opportunity

Are you an experienced electrician looking for a new challenge away from the tools? Or already working as an Electrical Assessor, Trainer or Training Officer and looking for a fresh opportunity?

This role is ideal for both:

  • Qualified electricians wanting to transition off the tools
  • Existing trainers/assessors

You’ll play a key role in developing the next generation of electricians – supporting apprentices throughout their journey, from onboarding through to End Point Assessment.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Electrical Training Officer / Apprenticeship Coach, you’ll manage a caseload of electrical apprentices and support them through their learning journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting a caseload of apprentices in the workplace
  • Carrying out regular reviews, assessments, and progress tracking
  • Assessing evidence against industry standards (NVQ / NOS)
  • Providing clear feedback, coaching, and setting SMART targets
  • Preparing apprentices for gateway and End Point Assessment (EPA)
  • Identifying learners at risk and putting support plans in place
  • Working closely with employers to ensure high-quality training delivery
  • Supporting apprentice recruitment and onboarding where required
  • Promoting apprenticeship opportunities to employers, schools, and stakeholders
  • Ensuring safeguarding, Prevent, and compliance standards are met

Who This Role Would Suit

This role is perfect for someone from one of the following backgrounds:

  • Electrician
  • Electrical Engineer (hands-on / installation)
  • Electrical Tester / Inspector
  • Electrical Supervisor / Site Manager
  • Electrical Assessor / Trainer / Lecturer
  • Maintenance Electrician

If you’re still on the tools but thinking about a long-term career change, full training and support can be provided to help you transition into education.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on industry experience as a qualified electrician
  • 18th Edition (or willingness to obtain)
  • GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Assessor qualification (A1, D32/D33, TAQA)
  • 2391 Testing & Inspection
  • IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
  • Experience working with apprentices or training delivery

What’s in It for You?

  • Move away from the physical demands of site work
  • Structured career progression into education and training
  • Ongoing CPD and funded qualifications (teaching/assessing)
  • Generous holiday allowance + bank holidays
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Optional healthcare and wellbeing benefits
  • Flexible, home-based working with regional travel
  • The opportunity to make a real impact on future electricians

Why Make the Move?

This is a genuinely rewarding career path where you can:

  • Pass on your knowledge and experience
  • Help shape the next generation of electricians
  • Achieve better work-life balance
  • Build a long-term, stable career outside of site work
