Salary: £130,000-£140,000

Role Overview

The Planning Manager will lead project planning activities across major MEP projects, ensuring accurate scheduling, progress reporting, and stakeholder communication. This role requires proactive management of project programmes, identification of risks, and mentoring of junior planners to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
  • Create baseline programmes and manage schedule updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct critical path analysis, resource loading, and forecasting.
  • Identify programme risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Produce weekly and monthly progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support commercial teams with delay analysis and Extensions of Time (EoT) submissions.
  • Present programme updates to clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Collaborate closely with project, engineering, commercial, and site teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior planners.
  • Implement best-practice planning processes and enhance planning controls.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ planning experience in construction or MEP environments.
  • Strong expertise in Primavera P6 (essential).
  • Proven experience delivering complex, high-value projects.
  • Solid understanding of project controls, risk management, and programme governance.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-management experience.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • PMI-SP or equivalent planning certification beneficial.
  • Experience on large-scale MEP projects is highly desirable.
