Overview

We are looking for a motivated, experienced, and dynamic individual to join our Ophthalmology team and help us deliver high-quality eyecare for our patients.

As a GMC registered Ophthalmologist who has passed both the Part 1 FRCOphth and the Refraction examination, you will join a supportive team that will enable you to complete your specialist training through the ‘Certificate confirming Eligibility for Specialist Registration’ (CESR). You will be based across the MSE and have the opportunity to rotate across the wider Trust, collaborating with colleagues across our multidisciplinary team. Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services while fostering a vibrant environment for staff development, innovation, and career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Acute ophthalmology clinics in the eye emergency department (EED) and ward referrals, including visits to other hospitals.
  • Emergency and acute ophthalmology duties.
  • Theatre sessions.
  • Procedures, laser treatments, injections and minor operations.
  • Speciality clinics.
  • Virtual clinics.
  • Clinical administration.
  • Non-DCC related tasks.
  • Supporting professional activities, including teaching.
  • Patient‑directed activities during the week, which may include face‑to‑face clinics, virtual clinics, theatre, lasers, and emergency department work.
  • Requires a good degree of flexibility from the post holder.

Qualifications

  • GMC registered Ophthalmologist.
  • Passed Part 1 FRCOphth.
  • Passed the Refraction examination.
  • Seeking CESR eligibility.
