Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical support and knowledge to patients within the Orthopaedic ward.
- Act as an effective role model and demonstrate effective organisational and leadership skills.
- Contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the ongoing professional development of staff and students.
- Support the Divisional Chief Nurse in establishing a good working atmosphere and making the most efficient use of staff, supplies, and services.
- Develop effective working relationships with patients, carers, relatives, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide high‑quality care to patients admitted to the Orthopaedic ward in relevant areas of practice and manage areas of practice in the absence of senior staff.
- Provide post‑op and pre‑op care of orthopaedic patients, including inpatient rehabilitation.
- Deliver high‑quality direct patient care.
- Follow patient admission/transfer/discharge processes.
- Administer medication.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate care, including nursing assessment, care plans, and risk assessment completion and review.
- Communicate effectively with the multi‑disciplinary team, patients, families, and carers.
- Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence‑based practice and research.
- Maintain skills, knowledge, and competencies in adherence to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Trust’s policies and procedures.

Role Summary
Swan ward is looking for dynamic staff nurses to work on this 35‑bed orthopaedic ward for a 12‑month period to cover maternity leave. The ward accommodates emergency and elective trauma and orthopaedic patients, including pre‑operative, peri‑operative, post‑operative and inpatient rehabilitation care needs.
