Corporate Fraud Intelligence Officer (Part‑time)
Position within East Suffolk Council’s Internal Audit Team.
Position Details
- Location: Riverside, Lowestoft, NR33 0EQ and/or Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 1RT
- Salary: £26,403 – £28,142 per annum (pro rata), Band 3
- Hours: Part time, 15 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
Responsibilities
- Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) between the Council and other departments (internally and externally) ensuring effective communication.
- Analyse and interpret large volumes of data to detect potential cases of fraud.
- Carry out investigations in a methodical and logical manner with attention to detail to provide evidence for court cases.
- Produce formal written reports, liaise with investigators and colleagues across the Council, and present complex information/evidence.
- Support complex investigations and contribute to wider office‑based proactive exercises such as data matching and sampling to identify suspected fraud while adhering to Data Protection Act regulations.
- Work independently and contribute to the Internal Audit Team’s objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Inquisitive mindset, diligent and proactive.
- Strong communicator and team player.
- Procedural knowledge of the state benefit system is desirable.
- Full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
- DBS check and psychometric evaluation required.
