Navy Command HQ Business Services Team is part of Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ), under the Command of COS HQ. The Team supports all Divisions of NCHQ by efficiently administering security, postal services, travel and transport, facilities management, I‑Hub management and administrative support services including conference services.
This role is office based with core hours 0800 to 1600 and advertised at 37 hours per week. You will support the Unit Security Officer (USO) with the coordination of all aspects of physical, documentary, and personnel security within the HQ.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate preparations for external Security Assurance Visits and Inspections by the NC PSyA Security Assurance Team and carry out required actions for Security Self‑Assessments.
- Conduct initial investigations into all security incidents, recommend further action to the USO, maintain incident records, and ensure incidents are reported to the Navy Command Warning Advice and Reporting Point (WARP) in accordance with NCSRs.
- Maintain control of all security keys, custody of written records of combination lock settings, and accurate records of system administrators’ login and password details; change combinations as required by regulations.
- Monitor and ensure all Unit personnel hold appropriate up‑to‑date security clearance, advising or facilitating reapplication as required.
- Brief civilian and Service personnel joining NCHQ on the Unit Security Standing Orders, local instructions and prevailing threat, including actions to take in the event of a change in Threat and Counter‑Terrorist Response Levels.
- Provide briefings and debriefings to personnel travelling to countries where Special Security Regulations Apply (CSSRA), informing NC PSyA CI cell in accordance with NCSRs.
- Monitor and advise the USO on the requirement for Aftercare Incident Reports (AIR) in line with relevant security publications.
- Arrange and monitor all spot checks and musters as required by JSP 440 and other documents (e.g., arms, ammunition, explosives, documents, crypto records).
- Produce and maintain necessary security records in line with NCSRs, ensuring they are regularly updated and advise the USO when reviews are required.
- Provide effective line management for three E2 Civil Servants in the SARO rota and, when required, support 1 in 4 week SARO duty rota for business continuity.
Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of working with Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Good written and oral communication, numeracy and computer literacy.
- Able to work at pace and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience in security administration or related roles is desirable.
- Open to UK nationals only.
- Successfully meet the security clearance requirements set by the Ministry of Defence.
