Job Description:

This is a high-impact, customer-facing role acting as a trusted advisor to a major public sector organisation, working closely with senior stakeholders to shape and deliver long-term technology strategy.

Often referred to in the market as an “Account CTO”, this role sits between engineering, architecture, and leadership — focused on understanding the customer’s challenges, identifying pinch points, and building a clear, strategic roadmap that aligns technology with business outcomes.

You’ll work directly with stakeholders including Head of Networks, senior leadership teams, and CIO-level contacts, helping guide decisions across a broad technology portfolio including networks, security, cloud, and collaboration.

This is ideal for someone who has moved beyond pure engineering and wants to operate as a trusted partner, influencing direction rather than just delivering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic advisor to a key enterprise customer.
  • Build and maintain technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities across the customer’s estate.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders including SLT and CIO-level leadership.
  • Translate complex technical solutions into business-focused outcomes.
  • Align internal capabilities and product offerings to customer needs.
  • Support long-term planning across networking, security, cloud, and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to architectural frameworks and governance (TOGAF-style environments).
  • Build strong, long-term relationships as a trusted partner to the customer.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments and transformation.
  • Ability to link technology solutions to real business challenges.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working within public sector or regulated environments.
  • Exposure to TOGAF or enterprise architecture frameworks.

  • 3 days per week in the office

Security Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain NPPV3 clearance.
  • Opportunity to operate as a true strategic partner to a major customer.
  • High-visibility role with direct access to senior decision-makers.

  • £100,000 base salary (flexible for the right candidate)
