Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As the Network Deployment Engineer, you will help build and support Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of the Infrastructure Operations team, contributing to the stability and sustainability of next‑generation networks. You will collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution under the guidance of Technical Program Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  • Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  • Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities.
  • Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
  • Participate in migration (possibly off business hours), basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  • Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter‑connectivity issues, including device configuration and low‑level application issues.
  • Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.

A Day in the Life

Your typical day may involve attending meetings, executing change management activities in the data centre, deploying hardware, connecting cabling, troubleshooting links, updating tickets, and collaborating with peers across AWS to innovate and improve solutions for customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level.
  • Experience managing small to medium scale projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • BS in Information Systems or Computer Science and/or relevant certifications.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including routers, switches, cabling, optics, and test equipment.
