Next Wave Care Group is seeking an experienced, values‑led Registered Manager to lead one of our children’s homes on the Isle of Wight and deliver outstanding, trauma‑informed care for children and young people.
This is a pivotal leadership role for a passionate professional who can ensure high‑quality care, strong outcomes for children, and full regulatory compliance in line with Ofsted expectations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
About the Role
As Registered Manager, you will have overall day‑to‑day responsibility for the leadership, management and development of the children’s home. You will ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing, and child‑centred environment where children can flourish emotionally, socially and educationally.
You will be responsible for maintaining Ofsted registration, meeting the Quality Standards, and evidencing continuous improvement through reflective practice and strong leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership and management of the children’s home in line with its Statement of Purpose and Next Wave Care Group’s trauma‑informed ethos.
- Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted requirements, including Regulations 44 and 45 monitoring and reporting.
- Promote positive outcomes for children, ensuring their safety, welfare and development are at the centre of all practice.
- Lead, motivate, supervise and develop a skilled staff team, ensuring safe recruitment, induction, training and ongoing professional development.
- Build strong, effective relationships with children, families, placing authorities and partner agencies.
- Ensure safeguarding practice is robust, with effective risk management, incident reporting and learning.
- Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and respond effectively to recommendations and requirements.
- Manage resources responsibly, including staffing, rotas and budgets, to ensure the sustainability of the home.
Essential Requirements
- Applicants must meet the Ofsted Registered Manager fitness requirements under Regulation 28, including: Proven integrity, good character, and physical and mental fitness to manage a children’s home.
- Within the last five years:
- At least 2 years’ experience working in residential care for children.
- At least 1 year’s experience in a role supervising and managing staff in a care setting.
- Hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or be willing and eligible to complete this within the required timescales.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child development, trauma‑informed practice and quality standards.
- The ability to be registered with Ofsted as the Registered Manager and maintain that registration.
