Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of delivering mechanical engineering work packages in line with technical specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across all project phases, from specification and design through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operator support.
  • Produce, review, and authorise engineering documentation, ensuring timely and accurate delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to technical, engineering, and safety reviews while ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation and statutory regulations.
  • Provide technical leadership through mentoring, contractor management, safety leadership, and the development of cost‑effective engineering solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles with a track record of delivery in highly regulated environments.
  • Experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions involving plant layout, equipment installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning.
  • Solid understanding of safety‑led design, regulatory compliance, and industry safety legislation.
  • Experience leading design teams, managing suppliers or subcontractors, and supporting project or bid activities.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and commercial awareness skills, with professional membership and nuclear sector experience considered advantageous.
