A Local Authority in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to join their Environmental Health team on an initial 3-month contract, with the likelihood of extension.
This role is suited to an officer with broad experience across Environmental Protection who can manage a varied caseload and support the service with statutory environmental health functions.
Key Responsibilities
Investigating complaints relating to statutory nuisance, including noise, smoke, odour and other environmental issues
Undertaking pollution control work and environmental investigations
Carrying out water sampling and associated environmental monitoring
Reviewing and commenting on planning applications from an environmental protection perspective
Providing technical advice on environmental protection matters to internal departments and external stakeholders
Taking appropriate enforcement action in line with relevant environmental health legislation
Essential Requirements
Experience working within Environmental Protection in a Local Authority setting
Strong knowledge of statutory nuisance legislation and environmental protection duties
Experience dealing with pollution investigations and environmental monitoring
Experience reviewing planning applications in relation to environmental protection matters
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
Willingness to undergo standard DBS clearance
Contract Details
Up to £45 per hour (Umbrella)
Initial 3-month contract with strong potential for extension
