SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work in close partnership with the class teacher to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in helping children access learning, build confidence, and develop socially and emotionally within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Assist with learning activities, adapting tasks to meet individual needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation
  • Contribute to the delivery of targeted interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Ensure safeguarding and inclusion are upheld at all times

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and behaviour management techniques
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to apply
  • Ability to provide two recent, child-related professional references covering the last two years
