SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work in close partnership with the class teacher to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in helping children access learning, build confidence, and develop socially and emotionally within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Assist with learning activities, adapting tasks to meet individual needs
- Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation
- Contribute to the delivery of targeted interventions
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
- Ensure safeguarding and inclusion are upheld at all times
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Understanding of SEN strategies and behaviour management techniques
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to apply
- Ability to provide two recent, child-related professional references covering the last two years
