Attendance and Safeguarding Officer
Grade 6 – £28,142 – £31,022 pro rata (term time only plus two weeks)
Type: Temporary – Full Time – Term Time

Role overview
This pivotal role serves as the front‑line contact for safeguarding concerns and leads the strategy to ensure every child attends school regularly and safely. Working closely with the Headteacher and the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will support vulnerable families, remove barriers to learning and meet statutory duties.
Responsibilities
- Safeguarding – act as first point of contact for concerns, liaise with external agencies (e.g., MASH, First Contact) and maintain records via CPOMs
- Attendance – analyse data to identify persistent absence, conduct home visits, and work with families to improve punctuality and attendance
- Partnership – build strong relationships with parents and carers; provide support and hold families to account when necessary
- Safeguarding – Wheatley Hill Primary is committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare; all appointments subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check
Qualifications
- Experience and expertise in safeguarding and attendance analysis
- Strong communication skills and ability to converse at ease with customers in accurate spoken English
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with families and external agencies
- Knowledge of CPOM, MASH, First Contact, and statutory safeguarding duties
Benefits & Remuneration
Salary £28,142 – £31,022 pro rata. Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay calculated as follows: 38 teaching weeks, 1.6 public holidays, 2 additional CPD weeks, 5.4–6.4 weeks annual leave depending on service length. Pay distributed in 12 equal monthly instalments.
