Job Description:

HR Manager – Build & Shape the Function (On-Site, Flexible Hours)

We’re working with a growing business that’s just moved into a new site and is now looking to bring in their first dedicated HR Manager. With around 60 people across operational and professional roles, they’re at a really exciting stage where HR can make a genuine impact.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll build the HR function from the ground up while also partnering closely with leadership to support the next phase of growth.

What’s on offer

  • The chance to shape and own the HR function end‑to‑end
  • A business that’s open to ideas and improvement
  • Flexibility around your working hours (while being on‑site)
  • A varied role across both strategic and day‑to‑day HR

The role

You’ll be the go‑to person for all things HR, balancing strategy with day‑to‑day support. From hiring and onboarding to building policies and developing people, you’ll have full ownership of the function.

Key areas include:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Managing hiring across operational and office‑based roles
  • Improving recruitment processes and candidate experience
  • Overseeing onboarding and initial training

Policies & Compliance

  • Creating and maintaining HR policies and the employee handbook
  • Ensuring the business stays compliant with employment law and industry regulations
  • Supporting managers with employee relations matters

Learning & Development

  • Building training plans, development pathways, and upskilling initiatives
  • Supporting managers with coaching and team development
  • Running reviews and development plans

Performance & Culture

  • Driving performance management and continuous improvement
  • Supporting engagement and helping build a positive, down‑to‑earth culture

Operational HR Support

  • Working closely with teams across operations, transport, finance, and IT
  • Supporting areas like H&S, training, and workforce planning
  • Providing HR insights to support decision‑making

About you

  • Proven experience in an HR Manager role, ideally in logistics, manufacturing, or a similar environment
  • CIPD qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of employment law and compliance
  • Comfortable working both strategically and hands‑on
  • Confident working independently and building processes from scratch

If you’re looking for a role where you can genuinely make your mark, rather than just maintain what’s already there, this is well worth a conversation.
