WSP’s Land team is seeking a talented project professional to join the largest and most successful team in our industry. As an Assistant Project Manager within our Project Management Office (PMO), you will support the delivery of numerous projects across aviation, highway, rail, energy & water industries.
Our hybrid working policy allows flexibility to work from home and collaborate in our contemporary offices across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Manage the project scope and change control process.
- Manage and review project programme timelines including monitoring of critical path, resource pinch points, delivery of milestones, and internal reporting.
- Collaborate with client teams to provide regular updates and manage expectations.
- Manage project budget, financial performance and associated reporting.
- Forecast cost to complete and provide Earned Value Management reporting to client.
- Support management of project risks and opportunities in line with client and business expectations.
- Support management of project resources and costs to ensure alignment between forecasts and actuals.
- Support implementation of scheduling controls to ensure projects are appropriately resourced.
- Provide input to overall management of project controls using both WSP and client systems.
- Ensure that quality procedures are adhered to through discussion with technical delivery teams.
- Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of the project team.
- Provide input to opportunities and bids as required by the business.
- Identify process improvements that would have positive effects on delivery.
- Contribute to development of junior project managers locally and across the UK business.
Qualifications
- Ability to interrogate, question and challenge information.
- Ability to coordinate the submission of highly detailed deliverables to predetermined deadlines.
- Understanding of project management, project controls and procedures normally associated with a major project.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Project and Word.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with colleagues, landowners and client at all levels.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic financial literacy with the ability to understand and manage simple project financial information.
Desirable
- Project Management experience and working knowledge of land consents and planning process.
- Pursuing membership of a Professional Institution.
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or Project Fundamentals Qualifications.
- Desirable but not required: Experience that has provided an understanding of land use and ownership (Geography, Land/Estate management, Surveying & agricultural).
Location
The role can be based in one of our offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Perth with the flexibility of hybrid working between one of these locations and from home.
