Job Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to join the onboard leadership team. As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will partner closely with senior leaders to develop and execute HR strategies that support business goals, enhance employee engagement, and drive organizational performance.

This role oversees all aspects of human resources operations onboard, including employee relations, talent management, learning and development, compliance, and HR administration. You will also serve as the onboard Compliance and Ethics Officer, working closely with the Captain to ensure adherence to ethical standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive HR strategy aligned with organizational goals and onboard business performance

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement actions to meet or exceed targets

Partner with department leaders to optimize workforce performance and cost management

Manage HR and crew welfare budgets, ensuring effective cost control

Oversee onboarding, sign-on/sign-off processes, immigration, and crew movement

Lead talent management initiatives, including performance management, succession planning, and career development

Coach and develop HR team members and high-potential employees

Foster a positive work environment by driving employee engagement and morale initiatives

Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and performance management processes

Ensure fair and consistent application of disciplinary and promotion processes

Deliver constructive performance feedback and build a culture of trust and accountability

Additional Responsibilities

Promote strong employee relations and resolve conflicts in compliance with applicable regulations and agreements

Lead and manage investigations related to ethics and compliance matters

Analyze HR data and metrics to provide insights and recommend improvements

Maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as port officials and business partners

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards

Support training and development initiatives in collaboration with Learning & Development teams

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Minimum 5 years of progressive HR management experience

At least 3 years of experience in employee relations, including conflict resolution and investigations

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proven ability to influence and partner with leaders at all levels

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Language Requirements

Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German are an advantage

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the vessel for extended periods

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Full ability to participate in emergency drills and safety procedures

Adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities for safe operations
