Regional Maintenance & Engineering Manager

South Wales to West London (Regional Role)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Regional Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead maintenance service delivery across a large-scale retail estate.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role responsible for ensuring both reactive and planned maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with KPIs and service standards. You’ll manage a team of engineers and specialist subcontractors, while maintaining a strong on-site presence for critical issues and providing effective remote coordination across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance operations across a multi-site retail portfolio spanning South Wales to West London
  • Lead and support a team of multi-skilled engineers, alongside a network of subcontractors
  • Manage reactive maintenance, including escalations and critical on-site incidents (e.g. HVAC failures, faults, plant issues)
  • Ensure the successful delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes
  • Take ownership of KPI and SLA performance, driving service excellence
  • Attend sites as required, particularly for high-priority or complex issues
  • Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure quality, compliance, and value
  • Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and provide regular performance updates
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with health & safety regulations and company standards

About You

  • Proven experience in a regional or multi-site maintenance/service management role within retail or FM environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, with a good understanding of maintenance
  • Experience managing both direct engineering teams and subcontractors
  • Track record of delivering both reactive and planned maintenance services
  • Strong understanding of KPI/SLA management and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage a geographically dispersed workforce
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to attend sites when required
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills

Desirable

  • Relevant technical qualifications (mechanical, HVAC, or electrical)
  • Experience within large-scale retail environments
  • Knowledge of compliance and statutory maintenance requirements
