Wing Design Engineer

Location: Filton, Bristol (minimum 60% onsite)

Contract Duration: Until October 2026

Pay Rate:

  • £50.00 per hour Umbrella (£37.38 per hour PAYE)
  • Rate uplift for authoriser level
  • Working Hours: 35 hours per week
  • IR35: Inside

The Role

Carbon60 are working with an established aerospace organisation who is currently seeking experienced Wing Design Engineers to support ongoing and future wing structure programmes. This is an excellent contract opportunity working on complex, high‑profile aircraft structures within a mature design environment.

You will be responsible for delivering structural wing design solutions in line with strict airworthiness, quality, time and cost requirements, while supporting design maturity and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structural wing design solutions in line with programme airworthiness and product requirements
  • Define and deliver technical studies, trade‑offs and investigations using approved design methods and procedures
  • Manage and support design change through Mod opening, DFM release and Stage 3 Mod closure
  • Provide technical guidance and design leadership to internal and external designers
  • Support Lean Engineering initiatives, focusing on right‑first‑time delivery and lead‑time reduction
  • organise and support design and maturity reviews in line with internal engineering processes and governance

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in wing structure design within an aerospace environment
  • Experience working within a design approval and authorisation framework
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver to time, cost and quality targets
  • Strong problem‑solving capability and risk management skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders within complex engineering programmes
  • Experience working with CATIA V5 and aerospace design toolsets
  • Signatory delegation is essential (Design Approval and/or Design Authorisation)
