Job Description:

Senior Security Engineer (AI / Cloud / Platform)

London – Hybrid

The client:

This team is building a platform that sits at the intersection of AI, high-performance computing, and scientific research. Their work supports complex modelling and large-scale data processing, where security is critical from day one.

The environment is fast-moving and research-led. You’ll work closely with engineers, researchers, and infrastructure teams to ensure security keeps pace with the platform as it evolves.

It’s still a scaling environment. There’s ambiguity, and you’ll be expected to take ownership and shape how security is designed and implemented across the business.

The role:

As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll own and develop the security foundations of a modern AI and HPC platform.

  • You’ll design and review secure architectures across cloud platforms and HPC infrastructure
  • You’ll work closely with DevOps teams to embed security into infrastructure using IaC and policy-as-code principles
  • You’ll secure CI/CD pipelines, ensuring code is protected from commit through to production
  • You’ll carry out threat modelling and risk assessments, supporting teams with clear remediation plans
  • You’ll act as an escalation point for complex incidents and vulnerabilities
  • You’ll design and implement identity and access strategies, including zero trust principles
  • You’ll assess third-party systems and support secure integrations across cloud and SaaS environments
  • You’ll build or integrate tools that automate security processes and reduce manual overhead
  • You’ll manage security controls end-to-end, from requirements through to deployment and continuous improvement

About you (skills/experience):

You bring:

  • Strong cloud security experience (ideally GCP), including IAM, networking, and resource hardening
  • Proven experience with taking ownership of security architecture or leading security initiatives end-to-end.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and version control systems
  • Ability to write production-level code (e.g. Python) to automate security workflows
  • Experience securing containerised environments (Kubernetes/Docker)
  • Solid understanding of network security and zero trust architecture
  • Strong knowledge of identity and access management in cloud environments
  • Experience with threat modelling and risk assessment frameworks
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain risks clearly to non-security teams
  • An understanding of attacker mindset (e.g. MITRE ATT&CK)

Desirables:

  • Exposure to AI/ML security or LLM-related risks
  • Experience in regulated environments (BioTech, Pharma, Healthcare)
  • Knowledge of AppSec tooling (SAST, DAST, SCA, OWASP Top 10)
  • Experience implementing zero trust models at scale
  • Background in building or improving SecOps / detection and response functions
  • Familiarity with SaaS security (Google Workspace, Jira, Slack)
  • Understanding of privacy-enhancing technologies

What they can offer:

Market-leading compensation (bonus + equity)

Hybrid working – 3 days in a central London office
