Job Title: SHEQ Advisor – Highways Maintenance (Contract)

Contract: Initial 3 months (likely to extend)

Start: Immediate / ASAP

Role Overview

We require an experienced SHEQ Advisor to support highways maintenance works on high-speed road networks across Yorkshire. This is a hands-on, site-based role, working directly with operational teams in live traffic environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver regular SHEQ / OSH site inspections
• Maintain a visible, practical safety presence on site
• Engage and influence operatives and supervisors on safe systems of work
• Review and advise on RAMS and task briefings
• Support incident and near-miss investigations and action close-out
• Provide pragmatic, solutions-led safety advice
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, company procedures, and client standards
• Produce clear site reports and documentation

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a SHEQ / Health & Safety Advisor within highways or civils
• Strong knowledge of highways maintenance and live, high-speed road environments
• Confident operating independently on site
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Practical, delivery-focused approach

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
• IOSH membership (TechIOSH / GradIOSH preferred)
