Deputy Head of School for Medicine London
Two outstanding individuals are sought to fulfil the role of Deputy Head of School for Medicine London. The Deputy Head of School will assist the Head of School in managing the Medicine Training programme across NHS England London Local Office.
The role involves ensuring national and local standards are met, implementing NHS policies around education and training of resident doctors, supporting workforce transformation, and developing multi‑professional links. The Deputy Head will work with the Postgraduate Dean to produce doctors who strive for the highest standards of patient‑centred care and commit to lifelong professional development.
Main Duties
- Oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme.
- Support compliance with requirements, particularly regarding supervision and support for trainees and learners.
- Address specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
- Manage the work of Training Programme Director(s) and other clinical faculty to ensure appropriate systems for assessment, rotational management, revalidation, trainee supervision and support and other functions within the School.
- Contribute to workforce planning, ensuring clinical engagement with local and national workforce planning processes.
Ideal Candidate
Experience as an NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Medicine training across the region, strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.

Qualifications and Training
- Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body.
- Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise.
- Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master’s in education.
Depending on experience, in line with HoS sessional payments.
