Transport Manager
Salary – £42,249 – £52,812 plus Cash or Car Allowance
Hours – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (06:30–15:30 or 08:00–17:00, with occasional out-of-hours calls)
As a Transport Manager at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of transport activities, ensuring high standards of customer service, and effective people management and cost control. This is a key operational role with responsibility for drivers, fleet and transport compliance across the business.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
- Managing the health, safety and environmental performance of transport operations, ensuring SHEQ policies are followed at all times
- Leading, managing and developing drivers and transport staff
- Ensuring vehicle and driver compliance, including operator licence requirements, driver hours and working time regulations
- Planning and routing vehicles to meet operational and customer requirements
- Managing fleet operations, including HGVs, trailers and associated equipment
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions
- Using transport and management systems to plan, schedule and monitor work
- Building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Supporting cost control and efficiency improvements across transport operations
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Transport Manager role
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Knowledge of transport legislation, including driver hours, tachographs and working time regulations
- Experience managing HGV fleets and multi-site transport operations
- HGV Class C or CE licence with valid CPC (desirable)
- Waste or logistics industry experience (desirable)
- Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills
- IT competent, including transport systems and Microsoft Office
