Area Sales Engineer – Industrial Automation (East Anglia, potentially over to Leicester and Coventry)

Are you passionate about industrial automation, pneumatics and associated technology, motion control, and delivering intelligent engineering solutions? I am looking for an experienced Area Sales Engineer (Living somewhere in East Anglia, Coventry or Leicester) to join a leading industrial automation company, where you’ll combine your technical expertise with a consultative sales approach to support the OEM customer base within the East Anglia area. This role focuses on delivering high-value automation solutions, strengthening long-term partnerships, and driving sustainable growth.

The Role:

As Area Sales Engineer, you will act as a trusted advisor to either OEM customers, helping them optimise their processes through innovative automation solutions.

• Develop and grow relationships with the OEM customer base.

• Support customers in identifying, designing, and implementing automation solutions

• Drive sales growth and identify new opportunities

• Deliver value-based, solution-oriented sales rather than product-only approaches

• Collaborate with internal teams to provide technically and commercially robust solutions

• Contribute to joint business planning and market development initiatives

• Act as the face of the business, representing a strong, innovative automation brand

Technical Expertise:

You will bring a strong foundation in industrial automation and electromechanical systems, with particular focus on:

• PLC control technology and electrical systems

Electromechanical Engineering & Motion Control and electric actuators

• Servo drive technologies and stepper motor control

• Handling solutions including pneumatics, electric cylinders, grippers and associated drives

What else is required:

• Experience in industrial automation, pneumatics, motion control, or mechatronic systems

• A consultative, solution-oriented sales mindset

• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and commercial stakeholders

• Ability to understand customer processes and translate them into automation solutions

• Proactive, self-driven approach with a focus on results and customer value

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team

Requirements:

• Degree/HNC or equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering

• Experience within industrial automation or technical sales

• Full driving licence and willingness to travel
