O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction, refurbishment and fit-out contractor delivering projects across London. Operating both as a Main Contractor and specialist Fit-Out & Refurbishment Contractor, our client has built a strong reputation for quality delivery across commercial, residential, and mixed-use schemes. Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Head of Health & Safety to lead, develop and drive their health & safety strategy across the business.

The Role

As Head of Health & Safety, you will take full ownership of the company’s H&S function, ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and embedding a proactive safety culture across all live sites and office operations.

This is a senior leadership position with direct influence on operational performance and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the company-wide Health & Safety strategy
  • Ensure compliance with current UK legislation (including CDM Regulations)
  • Oversee RAMS, policies, procedures, and risk management systems
  • Conduct site audits and inspections across multiple London projects
  • Advise senior leadership and project teams on H&S best practice
  • Manage incident investigations and reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement and behavioural safety initiatives
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and enforcing authorities
  • Lead and mentor any H&S team members

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role within construction
  • Strong background working for a Main Contractor and/or Fit-Out contractor
  • In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) – essential
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards) – desirable
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially aware with the ability to influence at board level
