Role Overview
We are delighted to have been awarded funding to appoint a new post for older adult mental health within the community team covering Hastings and Rother. This brand‑new role will work alongside a recently appointed clinical psychologist. The newly established Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams for Hastings and Rother are supported by one specialist team for older people (SOAMHS). The geographic patch is wide, with varied levels of socio‑economic status and a mixture of urban and rural areas. Rother has one of the highest proportions of older people in Britain, with some 32% of people aged over 65.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work within the multi‑disciplinary team and provide psychological opinion and formulations. They will contribute to the development of psychological thinking, understanding and interventions within the team. Responsibilities include:
- Offering consultation, assessments (including cognitive assessments) and focused, short‑term individual and group interventions using evidence‑based therapy models according to client needs.
- Collaborating with other psychologists and team members to promote effective psychological services across East Sussex.
- Participating in the East Sussex Psychological Professions group and the Trust’s Older Adult Psychological network, providing governance and best‑practice support.
Qualifications / Experience
This role is ideal for a newly qualified psychologist, a psychological therapist, or a psychologist looking for a new opportunity working with older people. Applicants should have received training in psychological practice and be committed to developing their skills and career within this role.
