This post is open to current employees of University Hospitals Tees. If you are not a current employee, your application will not be considered.
This is a complex trauma and limb reconstruction post under the direct supervision of Mr Will Eardley and Mr James Bassett and the successful candidate would be exposed to a wide variety of challenging trauma cases, both acute and delayed reconstruction. There is adequate opportunity for exposure to Major trauma management, Limb reconstruction (including frame and bone infection work alongside Mr Eardley and Mr Egglestone), Orthoplastics (with Mr Eardley, Mr Egglestone and Miss Barnard and her team) and Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma, alongside Mr James Bassett. The post holder would in appropriate cases have exposure to independent operating (Monday all day operating list), and involvement in training of junior staff.
The Fellow would be invited to departmental consultant meetings to witness and absorb issues at that level. Significant opportunity for research and quality improvement are another key feature of this post with several members of the department playing key roles in United Kingdom Orthopaedics, both trauma and elective. Mr Eardley and his colleagues are heavily involved in research and the successful candidate would be expected to deliver on several projects for publication. Several of the consultant body hold key posts at a national level in research and governance roles. It is expected that the fellow attends consultant meetings and experiences policy and process that will help transition to consultant practice however there are no direct responsibilities in this domain other than standard clinical leadership expectations of seniority.
We support the ‘Making Every Contact Count’ approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
