We’re looking for an experienced academic leader with strong discipline knowledge in civil and/or mechanical engineering, and the credibility to provide clear subject-level direction. You’ll bring a relevant degree and either a PhD or equivalent professional/academic experience, alongside a track record of high-quality teaching and a commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.
Responsibilities
- Shape and deliver a forward-looking portfolio, working with Programme Leaders to enhance curriculum, assessment and quality assurance, and ensure programmes remain professionally aligned.
- Provide effective line-management support, including workload planning, professional development and appraisal, to create a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Contribute to strengthening the school’s reputation and impact by growing research and scholarship, enterprise activity and external income, and developing strong relationships with industry and professional bodies.
- Shape the future direction of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at LJMU and make a visible difference to student outcomes, staff development and external engagement.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree with either a PhD or equivalent professional/academic experience.
- Proven track record of high-quality teaching and a commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.
- Excellent communication skills and proven line-management experience.
