Overview
Commercial Vehicle Technician (Workshop-based) – Full time position.
Hours: Mon – Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm; Overtime available.
Minimum Requirement: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
Competitive hourly rate.
Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, routine services and repairs.
- Preparation of vehicles for MOT and presentation for test, with all tasks performed to the highest standard.
- Diagnose faults in electrical and mechanical systems and repair them efficiently, recording all work on relevant documentation or electronically on the r2c fleet management system.
- Perform defect rectification and repair work at customers’ sites or at roadside locations when required.
- Maintain good fabrication skills as an advantageous capability.
- Work on your own initiative and under pressure with a calm, methodical and safe approach.
- Opportunity to earn extra income by being on-call in the evenings and at weekends for roadside breakdowns and on-site defects/repairs/inspections.
Qualifications and Skills
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
- Experience and knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems in vehicles; ability to diagnose and repair faults.
- Preferred: C+E licence, though not mandatory.
- Ability to record work clearly and accurately in documentation or electronically.
Additional Information
All tasks to be performed to the highest standard. This role is workshop-based but involves customer-site or roadside work as needed.
