Commercial Vehicle Technician

Overview

Commercial Vehicle Technician (Workshop-based) – Full time position.

Hours: Mon – Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm; Overtime available.

Minimum Requirement: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, routine services and repairs.
• Preparation of vehicles for MOT and presentation for test, with all tasks performed to the highest standard.
• Diagnose faults in electrical and mechanical systems and repair them efficiently, recording all work on relevant documentation or electronically on the r2c fleet management system.
• Perform defect rectification and repair work at customers’ sites or at roadside locations when required.
• Maintain good fabrication skills as an advantageous capability.
• Work on your own initiative and under pressure with a calm, methodical and safe approach.
• Opportunity to earn extra income by being on-call in the evenings and at weekends for roadside breakdowns and on-site defects/repairs/inspections.

Qualifications and Skills

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
• Experience and knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems in vehicles; ability to diagnose and repair faults.
• Preferred: C+E licence, though not mandatory.
• Ability to record work clearly and accurately in documentation or electronically.

Additional Information

All tasks to be performed to the highest standard. This role is workshop-based but involves customer-site or roadside work as needed.
