Overview
Role involves on-site engineering tasks for network installations, verification, testing, and documentation at client locations, with required PPE and site policies.
Responsibilities
- Verify and validate the Bill of Materials (active and passive components).
- Receive, inspect, and install network equipment (switches, APs, controllers, firewalls).
- Rack and stack devices in designated positions according to the layout plan.
- Manage cables: identify, label, and patch as required; perform inter-rack and intra-rack patching with copper and fiber cables; ensure neat dressing and labeling inside racks.
- Power setup: verify available PDU sockets and install redundant power sources if required.
- Provide console access for remote engineers to configure devices.
- Physically replace and install network devices, including switches (core, distribution, and access) and wireless access points (ceiling/wall mounted).
- Test installations: power-on tests and connectivity checks for all devices.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with on-site contacts to verify device functionality.
- Document installation and spare materials: submit a list of installed devices and leftover materials.
- Capture before and after photos of racks, patch panels, and cabling.
- Environmental/onsite safety: steel-toe shoes are mandatory due to factory site requirements.
