The role:
- Ensure full compliance with UK, EU, and global food and feed safety, quality, and defence standards, including Organic, Halal, FAMI QS, Kosher, and GFSI (BRC) requirements.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, assess their impact on the business, and update senior management compliance protocols as needed.
- Support the development and implementation of regulatory strategies for new and existing ingredients, covering allergens, REACH, Novel Foods, packaging, labelling, feed laws, residues, contaminants, and natural/botanical ingredients.
- Provide regulatory reviews of products for the quality team, coordinate with authorities on authorisations and licences, and maintain accurate product specifications in line with EU regulations.
- Deliver regulatory training and support to quality, technical, commercial, and marketing teams across Europe to ensure compliance in all areas.
- Actively contribute to QA tasks and assist in crisis and incident management as part of the wider management team.
- Preferred hybrid arrangement: office 2 days a week; remote contract considered for candidates across the UK with 2‑hour commute (still visit office 1‑2 times a month).
- 5+ years of technical or regulatory experience within functional ingredients, food, feed, fine chemicals, pharmaceutical ingredients, or chemical distribution industries (Ingredients or Raw Materials experience highly preferred).
- Highly analytical, organised, and detail‑oriented.
- Mandatory EU food regulatory experience; candidates without this experience will not be considered.
- Fast‑paced environment requiring dynamic problem‑solving.
- Team player with professional and inclusive collaboration at all levels.
- High standard of business English and proficiency in Microsoft Office on Windows.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to commute 5 days a week into the office (no hybrid option for this opportunity).
