A Private Bank undergoing significant technology modernisation across its core payments, transaction, and settlement services.
The Opportunity
This role owns the direction, evolution, and operational health of a set of mission‑critical technology platforms that support high‑volume payments and transactional activity. You will operate at the intersection of technology strategy, delivery, governance, and people leadership, ensuring platforms continue to meet business needs while evolving for future demand.
You will be accountable for shaping long‑term platform strategy, prioritising investment, and ensuring reliable day‑to‑day service delivery in a complex, regulated environment. The role sits above delivery, owning decisions on platform direction and which programmes of work are prioritised.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Defining and driving a long‑term platform strategy that balances operational stability with meaningful transformation across payments and transaction systems.
- Translating business objectives into clear technology priorities and delivery plans, including deciding which initiatives are undertaken and why.
- Overseeing delivery pipelines that include continuous improvement, regulatory change, and larger transformation initiatives.
- Ensuring platforms are resilient, secure, supportable, and cost‑efficient.
- Managing third‑party providers and internal teams to agreed service levels.
- Building, leading, and developing a diverse, engineering‑led team, with a strong focus on performance, engagement, and capability growth.
What We’re Looking For
- A proven background leading technology platforms or services within a payments or transaction‑heavy environment.
- Strong understanding of payments technology, architecture, and processing flows.
- A background in software engineering or hands‑on system development is required (e.g. engineer, senior engineer, or similar) before moving into leadership roles.
- Experience setting direction and delivery priorities with senior business and technology stakeholders, including ownership of strategic platform investment decisions.
- Strong exposure to transaction‑heavy systems or complex integration environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through both steady‑state operations and periods of change.
- Experience managing material budgets and external suppliers.
- Clear, structured communicator who can navigate competing priorities.
