Floating Quarry Operative

Hourly Rate: £15.54 per hour

Hours: 47.75 hours per week (5 days a week, one Saturday morning per month on rota), 7am to 5pm (full‑time)

Location & Postcode: Darrington Quarry (with travel to other quarry sites)

What will you be doing?

  • Operate mobile and fixed quarry plant in accordance with site safe systems of work and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Work safely at all times, following health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Carry out daily pre‑start inspections and report defects on plant and equipment.
  • Ensure production levels are maintained safely to schedule.
  • Examine materials produced to ensure product quality standards are met.
  • Complete inspection systems and checklists in line with the Integrated Management System.
  • Carry out basic preventative maintenance on mobile and fixed plant.
  • Travel between quarry sites as required to provide operational cover.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience working within a quarrying environment.
  • Experience operating mobile plant such as wheeled loading shovel, articulated dumper and tracked excavator.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to travel between sites.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions.
  • Reliable, safety‑focused and performance‑driven.
