Packing Machine Operator – Stockport (SK1)
Hours: 40 per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30-16:30 (paid 40‑minute lunch)Salary: £13.45 per hourContract: Permanent, full-time
Role Overview
We’re looking for a hands‑on Packing Machine Operator to join our production team. You’ll operate and maintain a vertical form-fill‑seal (VFFS) packing machine, ensuring accurate, efficient packing of powdered products. The role involves some physical activity, including lifting up to 20kg and moving around the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, set up, and adjust VFFS machinery
- Conduct quality checks (weight, seal integrity, batch coding)
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and elevate when needed
- Palletise, label, and store finished goods
- Assist with stock control of packaging materials
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace
- Keep accurate records in line with food safety standards
Skills & Attributes
- Reliable with strong timekeeping
- Team player with good communication
- Attention to detail and pride in high-quality work
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Practical and hands‑on approach
Experience
- Previous VFFS or production experience is desirable but not essential
- Food production or manufacturing experience is a plus
- Training provided for Food Safety Level 2, LEAN manufacturing, and ongoing development
