Head of Compliance

North West England (Hybrid) £95,000 – £115,000 + Bonus

Barclay Simpson is supporting an FCA-regulated consumer credit firm in the appointment of a Head of Compliance.

This is a key hire for a business that has reached significant scale and is now focused on enhancing its regulatory framework, governance and overall sophistication as it continues to grow. Backed by strong investment and operating in a fast-paced, commercial environment, the firm offers a broad and visible role with genuine scope to shape the compliance function.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Legal & Compliance, you will:

  • Lead the compliance function and manage an established team
  • Provide senior regulatory advice across the business
  • Oversee key frameworks including Consumer Duty, SMCR, monitoring and governance
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are effectively embedded across customer journeys and operations
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across commercial, operational and technology teams
  • Contribute to ongoing transformation, growth and regulatory enhancement initiatives

This role offers the opportunity to shape team structure and capability, rather than simply maintain BAU.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking individuals with:

  • Significant experience in FCA-regulated compliance roles
  • Strong knowledge of consumer credit regulation (CONC, DISP, SYSC, Consumer Duty, SMCR)
  • A background in consumer credit, lending, brokerage or retail banking
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilityA pragmatic, commercially aware approach
  • The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Candidates stepping up from a senior No.2 role will also be considered.
