An exciting opportunity to join our welcoming Finance Department as Financial Operations Manager, reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer. The role leads the financial operations function and team, providing a comprehensive, high‑quality financial transaction, control and advisory service to the Salford City College Group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Financial Operations team in managing purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, cash, banking, and trips & visits financial administration.
  • Oversee outsourced payroll and pension services.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance services to stakeholders.
  • Execute monthly closure and reconciliation processes.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage outsourced payroll and pension services.
  • Provide financial advice and support to the College on various matters.

Qualifications

  • Qualified CCAB (ICAEW / ACCA / CIPFA) or CIMA, or qualified by experience.
  • Significant recent experience providing transactional financial management services, ideally in education, public or third sector.
  • Strong background in transactional accounting and proven financial management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in monthly closure, reconciliations, external audit liaison, and payroll/ pension oversight.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and managerial skills with a proactive, can‑do attitude.
  • Commitment to working with the College’s values and ethos.
